My Photojournalistic Debut
Over the summer, I’ve signed on with the photo staff of the Red and Black, UGA’s student newspaper, to get some photojournalistic bona fides and to keep some variety in what I shoot. I attended my first staff meeting this afternoon, and it was a great experience.
Also today, my first photo for the R&B was published in this story on a summer concert series at the Georgia State Botanical Gardens. I had a great time touring the facilities and taking the photos.

What’s interesting is that this isn’t my favorite photo that I shot, or even the strongest from a technical standpoint; however, it is the most newsworthy. That’s a different end-goal from what I’m used to working toward, which is the whole point of this endeavor. I’m enjoying getting to know the staff and getting to be a part of our local news. More to come as more assignments (hopefully) come my way.
